About Me

Hello, there! I'm Christina. I'm an adult woman often mistaken for a teenager. People tell me I'll love that someday but right now I don't.

I like to write. A lot. In fact, I write a little bit of everything. I've written short stories, manuscripts, bad poetry, and fanfiction. I've also written horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and literary fiction, but my first love above all is whimsical fiction. Everyday life is so full of the mundane and the difficult, so I enjoy reading and writing a story with fantasy and whimsy injected into it.

I've always known I wanted to write books. I've been writing since I was old enough to put words on paper. As a kid, I used to write a lot of stories on my dad's old electronic typewriter until we got a computer equipped with Windows 98. I sent query letters to publishers when I was 11 asking them to publish what was essentially a Tomb Raider fanfiction. Only one publisher was kind enough to respond in detail. C'est la writer's life.

I was enrolled in an MFA Program and completed the first year but realized the Program wasn't right for me, or maybe I wasn't right for it. I don't regret enrolling and I don't regret leaving. I learned a lot from my time in the Program. I realized, however, that MFAs might be a lot like getting married: for some people it is the right choice, and for others it isn't. And that's perfectly okay.

Now I'm enrolled in the UCLA Writer's Program, which I've heard great things about. Here's to seeing where that takes me!

During my time in the MFA Program, I worked on the editorial staff of our literary magazine. I have also written a handful of video game-related articles for The Artifice, games being my second love in life behind writing. You can find them in the "Video Games" page. I have a few short stories published in Door Is a Jar and the San Joaquin Review.

My favorite books are The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, and Big Fish by Daniel Wallace.

Besides all that, I'm just another person trying to live the dream. I love cats. I love dogs. I love to eat. I like to travel. Occasionally I make costumes. I have a lot of hobbies. That about sums me up.
